Gertha Speiginer (Civil-rights Activist) - The Louis Speiginer's family move to Pomona, California in the 1950's was a test of family strength. Gertha Speiginer's fights for racial equity in Fontana prompted a "visit" from the local Ku Klux Klan.

"Mother told us to stay back, but my sister Delores and I looked at each other, started boiling water and grabbed baseball bats,"

"Mother loaded her gun. Dad approached each one of the 12 Klansmen up close and face to face. He spoke very low and quietly, challenging their right to tell him and his family what we could and could not do in the country of our birth."

"……. They could see mother's strength and dad's courage. She told them what she'd do `If you touch one of mine.' I think we all have that fight in us. We inherited it from our parents,"

Louis S. Speiginer played Guitar in his band (Louis Speiginer and the Blue notes), married Gertha in 1934 and was in the US Navy WWII, where he was a Cook and Boxer, and after the war, moved to California.
